August 2026 Parole Hearing Update: James Shortreed
We are writing to provide an important update regarding the status of James (Jim) Shortreed.
A hearing for both day and full parole has been scheduled for August 2026. While the exact date and time have not yet been finalized by the Parole Board of Canada, we wanted to share this timeframe as soon as it became available. We will post the specific date here on the website as soon as it is officially announced.
How to Participate
Important Deadlines and Contact Information
For family, friends, and concerned members of the community who wish to have their voices heard, there are two primary ways to participate in this process:
Victim Impact Statements: You have the right to submit a new or updated Victim Impact Statement. These statements are a vital part of the hearing, allowing the Board to understand the ongoing impact of this case.
Attendance: You may register to attend the hearing. The Parole Board currently allows for both in-person and virtual (online) attendance.
If you intend to submit a statement or attend the hearing, please contact the Parole Board of Canada directly to register.
Email: Info-pac@pbc-clcc.gc.ca
Deadline Note: For those preparing statements, please keep in mind that the Parole Board typically requires submissions well in advance of the hearing date (by 2 July 2026) to ensure they are processed and reviewed.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us ensure that Iris’s memory is honored throughout this process. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
